Here are some common questions people may have when they are experiencing a dental emergency.
What should I do if I knocked out a tooth?

For a tooth that has been knocked out of your mouth, you want to keep the tooth moist. When possible you may be able to place the tooth back into the hole in the gum line gently. If this is not possible you can place the tooth into some milk and take it with you to the dentist. To help stop the bleeding you can lightly bite down on a teabag which is over the open socket the tooth came out of. Just do not swallow any fluid.

What to do if a child knocked a tooth out?

If this is a tooth that came out on its own it maybe something for the tooth fairy to help with. However, if the tooth was knocked out during a fall, or playing you want to save the tooth again keeping it moist, and get to a dentist as soon as possible. The dental professional will look to assure that the entire tooth came out and assist further as needed.

What do I do if I bit my tongue or lip?

You want to clean the area out with water. Then apply a clean cold compress. If the bleeding does not stop seek emergency care from a dentist or from your local emergency room if a dental professional is not available.

How do I treat a tooth ache?
For common toothaches cleaning the area with warm water will help. If you are an adult and dental care is not immediate options alcoholic spirits held in the area of the pain may help to calm the infection down until you can see a dental professional. This is not a cure by any means and only may help some with the discomfort. Seek dental care as soon as possible.

You should also use dental floss to remove any food stuck between the tooth and the gum-line.
What do I do if I think my jaw is broken?

Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling and seek emergency care at an ER or an emergency care dentist.
